Key Themes in Module 3 of the Oakwood CIPD Level 3 Diploma in L&D

In Module 3 of Oakwood’s CIPD Foundation Level 3 Diploma in L&D, you focus on creating and maintaining a coaching culture, and in becoming an ‘Administrative Expert’ in running excellent L&D interventions, events and programmes.

Key themes for this module are:

How moving toward a coaching and mentoring culture helps managers and
        the L&D function shift the organisation into a higher gear.
The role of the L&D function in planning and administering superb L&D
        interventions, events and programmes.

The first unit is 3LCM Supporting Individual Learning through Coaching and Mentoring.  In this you will discuss coaching and mentoring in comparison with other learning and development methods. You will plan how to overcome the challenges in introducing coaching and mentoring into your organisation.  You will practise and be assessed on your own coaching skills in conversations with your colleagues.

In the second and final unit of the programme, 3LDE Organising L&D Events you will look in close detail at all the elements which make up a superb L&D experience. In a case study you will anticipate and plan for all the eventualities and contingencies in a large-scale L&D event and then react as vital elements change, just like real life! 

The overarching theme of this module is the need for expertise in what Dave Ulrich calls the four roles of HR and L&D: Administrative Expert, Employee Advocate, Change Agent and Business Partner roles: creating a ‘complete package’ of L&D best practice.
