Meet the team that runs our Level 7 Qualifications
John's background in personnel management began with the Metropolitan Police Service in London where he was an internal personnel consultant responsible for HR policy and strategy for the service. From there he developed his interest in employee resourcing, reward, relations and diversity management through his own management training consultancy. John is a visiting lecturer at the University of Exeter where he is a supervisor for post graduate qualifications and Human Resource Management Tutor. John is also a marker for CIPD level 7 examinations.
Lynn Manir-JolleyLynn has a Master's degree in Human Resource Management. She has a particular interest in organisational design and development. Lynn is a Subject Matter Expert at Manchester Metropolitan University supporting the design of Level 7 Human Resource Management Modules. Lynn is also an Associate Tutor for Manchester Open Learning designing and delivering CIPD Level 5 and Level 7 qualifications. Lynn's extensive portfolio extends to the bespoke design and delivery of Leadership and Management workshops and her HR consultancy work includes advising on support during change, the development of people strategies and competency frameworks. Before embarking on her consultancy and academic career she held Senior HR & Training roles in the Retail and Utilities Sector - part of which included the management of change and delivery of training in the UK and India. She is experienced in the delivery of qualifications to students whose first language may not be English. Lynn is a skilled facilitator with a proven track record of coaching students through their learner journey.
Lynn is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and an NLP Practitioner.
Professor Carol AtkinsonPrior to becoming an academic, Carol worked as an HR practitioner in the financial services, retail and voluntary sectors. Her experience away from academia translates into her research, design and delivery of qualifications at Post Graduate level - applying relevant key themes and the most up to date critical thinking and analysis on a broad range of HRM topics with Performance Management being of particular interest to her.
She joined Manchester Metropolitan University in 2005 where she studied her PhD and since 2012 has been Professor of HRM and Associate Dean of Research. She has held a wide range of management, teaching and research roles within the University. Carol is a widely published author of academic journals and research publications. Her research has won a number of awards including the prestigious CIPD Professor Ian Beardwell prize for best research paper on two occasions.
Carol has held several External Examiner roles and has taught widely on People Resourcing, Employee Relations, Leading, Managing and Developing People and has designed, validated and launched an MSc HRM (CIPD accredited) programme at University of Bradford. Carol brings a fresh look and feel to the subject of Performance Management; applying her continuous academic research to ensure that students are gaining insightful, current and transferable knowledge in order that they can immediately apply best practice to their organisations.
Carol is a Chartered Member of the CIPD.
Dr Jonathan SmithJon has 10 years' experience at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge as Senior Lecturer in leadership, strategy, organisational change, and strategic HRM. He also specialises in change management and organisational development. Critical analysis and latest thinking are paramount to the design and delivery and evaluation of his programmes. Jon has a broad experience of both the private and public sectors which enables him to bring to his students a hands on and practical approach to all aspects of his workshop provision.
Jon is a widely published author of academic books, conference papers and journals. Jon is a Chartered Fellow CIPD, Fellow of HE Academy, Member CMI, Member ILM.
Dr Krystal WilkinsonFollowing her MA in Human Resource Management in 2004 (CIPD) Krystal worked in a number of positions as a Human Resource Manager. The organisations for whom she worked included a multi-national construction company and one of the largest shopping and leisure centres in the UK. Since joining academia, Krystal has worked in the capacity of National Examination Marker and Moderator, External Examiner and Associate lecturer for CIPD Advanced Level 7qualifications. Her considerable experience with HR Management ensures her approach to workshop delivery and student support is highly relevant to practical application. Krystal completed her PhD in 2015 but continues to undertake Postgraduate studies. She therefore has considerable empathy with students who are working and studying simultaneously.
Krystal is a Senior Lecturer in Management at Manchester Metropolitan University and Associate Lecturer for CIPD Level 7 programmes at Exeter University.
Krystal has Professional Membership of the Higher Education Academy and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD.
Cecilia is Principal Lecturer in HRM at Manchester Metropolitan University. In addition to Lecturing Cecilia is also responsible for overseeing the design and development of the CIPD suite of programmes to Master’s Level and provides academic leadership to a team of 15 senior lecturers.
Cecilia completed her PhD in 2016 having majored on the implications of a workplace closure decision for the Psychological Contract for which she won an Award for the Best MRes Dissertation. She is a published author having written extensively about Employee Engagement and Employment Relationships.
Cecilia is a CIPD Examiner for CIPD National examinations and is a Fellow of the CIPD.
